The Central Department of Public Health is a leading central department of the Tribhuvan University devoted to excellence in teaching, learning, and research, and to developing leaders in many disciplines of public health who make a difference in professional practice, health systems, and ultimately human lives both locally and globally. It contributes to community medicine, public health methods and research to other clinical, nursing and allied health science programs as well.
The department largely contributes to produce competent and socially responsible public health professionals through community-based learning approaches and focus on research in the fields of public health importance. The Department, which is based in the premises of IoM, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, has an annual enrollment of close to a hundred candidates, including bachelors, masters and doctoral students of public health, health promotion and education, and public health nutrition.
